The Italian pronunciation is Das-CHENT-so. Accent in caps. For
contemporary Italian words, C followed by and e or i is always
pronounced CH (like in China).

My great grandmother was Nicola (yes female name) D'Ascenzo from
Montesilvano (Abruzzo). Her father was named Nicola also I think.
