I dont think there is any record of Italians coming to England...... I dont
think they even had to have passports.......

have you checked the 1891 census and now the 1901 census is 'on-line'

what was his trade

do you knbow what part of london he came to.........many Italians went to
Clerkenwell and there is still the Italian Church there.......it is the
Parish Church for Italians...which means that you did not have to reside in
that area to be married ( etc) there.
