A SOLDIER'S STORY, THE DOUBLE LIFE OF A CONFEDERATE SPY, CIVIL WAR
CHRONICLES. (c)1997 by Michael Friedman Publishing Group Inc. Outstanding
color and black/white photos, old prints, drawings. 128 oversize pages (10
1/2"x10 14") By David Phillips. On Sept 15, 1861, Major Isaac N. Smith of
the 22nd VA Inf. began an epistolary account of his adventures under the
command of General John B. Floyd. It was written in the form of a diary that
he intended to send to his wife who was living in Union territory. This is
the fascinating account, with extensive passages from his diary, of Smith's
service in the Army--first as a field officer & later as a spy. The book is
in new condition and would make a nice gift for a Civil War buff. $25
postpaid.
