Branch. In 1798, 100,000 people rose in revolt against the British Gov't in
Ireland. In 4 months, 30,000 were killed--many were peasants armed with only
pikes & pitchforks, as well as defenseless women & children. It was the most
violent & tragic event in Irish History between the Jacobite Wars & the Great
famine of the 1840s, and lines were drawn between Catholic Nationalists and
