Elizabeth II is descended from Elizabeth, daughter of James I. Crown
Prince Albert is descended from Heneritta Anne daughter of Charles I.
Heneritta Anne was married to Phillipe I Duc d' orleans brother of Louis
XIV. She had two daughters, one was married (and was childless) to
Carlos II of Spain. The second, Anna was married to Victor Amadeus of
Savoy. The male Savoy line died out with King Charles Felix in the
1820's. But one of the Savoyard princesses is the ancestress of Duke
Albert. However I remember reading somewhere that the descent would be
illegal under British law (apart frm the claimant being catholic) as the
princess married a uncle.

Also the French monarchy had a better claim than the Hannoverian
(dynastically and over looking the religion factor). Louis XV 's mom was
a daughter of Victor Amadeus. Even the current Borbon claimant to the
French throne Henri Comte de Paris has a better dynastic (mind you not
legal as technically prliament sets the succession) claim as he is
descended from Phillipe I by his second marraige to Elizabeth Charlotte
of the Platinate. Elizabeth Charlotte was the daughter and I beleive
only surviving descendent (she had a brother who died childless in 1705)of
Elector Karl Ludwig (died 1684) oldest son of Elizabeth
of Bohemia and brother of Sophia of hannover (who gives E II her descent
to the throne).
