Who was Ivar "the White"?

According to my knowledge he had the son Haakon Ivarsson in 1038 to a
unknown wife or concubine. Haakon m. (ca 1050) Ragnhild (ca 1042-?),
the dau. of Magnus I "the Good" Olavsson, King of Norway.

Who was Ivar's parents(?), When was he born(?), What else is known?
