The ancestry of John LYTTLETON is given in Burke's Dormant and Extinct
Peerages (1883) p341 as follows (omiting some detail):

Littleton of Mounslow.

ELIZABETH de LUTTLETON m Thomas Westcote Esq (-soon aft 1451) the king's
servant, a man from co Devon. Because of her large estates, her surname
was retained by her and her heir. [I would guess that her father left an
arms and title clause in his will] They had 1) Thomas, their heir;
2)Nicholas m Agnes d&h of Edmund VERNON of Staffordshire and ancestor of
the Westcotes of that co. 3) Guy m GREENEVILE of Gloucestershire and
ancestor of Westcotes of cos Devon and Somerset; 4) Edmund dunm and four ds

Thomas HEWSTER Esq of Litchfield.

THOMAS de LUTTELTON, (-c1421) recovered Frankley on failure of issue of his
cousin Thomas de TATLINGTON; m Maud d of Richard QUARTERMAIN (heir to large
estate in co Oxford) by Joan d&h of GREY of Rotherfield. They had an only

THOMAS de LYTTELETON m Julian d of Robert de SOMMERY and with Thomas left
John m Beatrice Freshevel of Warwick who left an only d m Jeffery FRERE Esq

THOMAS de LYTTLETON resided at his manor of Coulesdon and had lands at
Newenton, co Worcester. Elected MP 1315-6 and 1360 [Sic], m Lucia d of
John du BOIS or ATTWOOD of Wolverly, Worcester.

THOMAS de LYTTELTON m1 Emma d&h of Sir Simon de Frankley, possibly of South
Lyttleton, Worcestershire and had a d Emma (-1298, she m1 Angerus de

of William Fitz-WARYN of Upton, co Worcester; Judge in 1228 and left 1)
Thomas; 2) Edmund a priest and 3) John dunm. Some say Edmund was his heir,
but dsp

Burke's quots Harleian MS 5841 containing valuable collections relating to
the family. In 1161 a John de Lyttleton was witness to grants of lands in
Evesham, Worcestershire.
