In article <>,
(Tim Powys-Lybbe) said that wayne cohen wrote that a couple months ago
someone mentioned a Family which is descended most closely from the
Plantagenets...which family is that ?
I don't know the answer to that, but there are *lots* of living
descendants from the Plantagenets and earlier English kings if you allow
descent through females.
For example:
Alfred the Great
Edward the Elder
Edmund I
Edgar
Aethelred the 'Unredy'
Edmund Ironside
Edward the Exile
St Margaret (wife of Malcolm Canmore of Scotland)
Maud (wife of Henry I)
Maud/Matilda (wife of Geoffrey Plantagenet of Anjou)
Henry II
John
Henry III
Edward I
Edward II
Edward III
Lionel of Clarence
Philippa Countess of Ulster (wife of Edmund Mortimer Earl of March)
Roger Earl of March
Anne Mortimer (wife of Richard Earl of Cambridge)
Richard Duke of York
Edward IV
Elizabeth of York (wife of Henry VII)
Margaret (wife of James IV of Scotland)
James V
Mary Queen of Scots (wife of Henry Lord Darnley)
James VI and I
Elizabeth (wife of Frederick of Bohemia)
Sophia (wife of Ernest Augustus of Hanover)
George I
George II
Frederick Price of Wales
George III
Edward Duke of Kent
Victoria (wife of Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha)
Edward VII
George V
George VI
Elizabeth II (wife of Philip of Greece)
Charles Prince of Wales
and I think (but haven't checked) that the King of Spain is a direct
descendent of John of Gaunt's second marriage.
