........Did you try Centraal Bureau voor Genealogie in The Hague?
Not knowing where he came from may make it difficult. However, on the
pages of the Centraal Bureau is a section where you can record your
interest and then hope someone will respond. Or else someone already
is researching that family.

on the Continent people were very class conscious. One Count would marry
the sister (or daughter) of another and so on. Simply look up the other
Countly family and you should be able to find the wives family.
I think I have a fairly good collection of information and sources,
name me one and I will see what I can find for you.
