I am doing some research on the family of the Counts of Toulouse and have
run into a problem in regards to Baldwin of Toulouse. He apparently was
the son of Constance of France (daughter of Louis VI), and accepted as a
brother to Count Raymond VI--the man who approved his execution in
Feb-1214--but, I have seen a variety of opinion as to whether or not he
was the son of Constance and her second husband, Count Raymond V. If
Baldwin was not the son of Count Raymond V, is there any indication of who
his father might have been? Also, I gather that Baldwin's marriage to the
heiress of Lautrec founded the house (or a house) of TOULOUSE-LAUTREC. Is
it possible to trace the ancestry of the nineteenth-century painter Henri
de TOULOUSE-LAUTREC from this Baldwin of Toulouse? Thanks for the help.
