Could anyone please point to the most reliable and complete source for the
family tree of the de Montforts? My current difficulty is aligning all the
Amauris and Simons and at what point they came into English history.
Further to this, the Albigensian Crusade leader, Simon (IV?) must have had
a sister Peronnelle according to Georges Duby ("Le Moyen Age, 987-1460"),
but I've not seen her mentioned elsewhere, although this feminine name does
seem to crop up in other de Montfort lines (Simon IV's mother had the name,
I think).
Is there a written history of the family?
This is all to do with a bigger study I'm attempting to do on the linking
of the Beaumont, de Montfort and Courtenay (English line) families, and
also the Vermandois history and its link into the Beaumont line.
With many thanks on advance.....
