This "probe" message and the earlier "probe failure" message relate to
the fact that GEN-MEDIEVAL messages can currently still be sent to the
old address, . They are forwarded to
the new address, , by having this address be
the only subscriber to the old list. Apparently there are some problems
with this process, and we may have to abandon it soon. (Deactivating
the old address will also reduce the amount of spam we get, since most
of it comes via the old address.)

So, if you want to propagate a message about medieval genealogy, be sure
to send it directly to (or post it to the
newsgroup soc.genealogy.medieval).
