I tried to post this earlier, got an error message, so sorry if this
shows up twice!
Would anyone happen to have any information on the royal antecedents
of Christopher Tilghman, of Faversham Hundred, County Kent, England,
who emigrated to Virginia with his wife Ruth Devonshire in 1638?
Royal ancestry is through his mother, Anna Sanders (or Saunders), and
goes, apparently, through the Berkeleys and the Nevilles to John of
Gaunt, also a second line through the Beauchamps to Edmund of Langley.
Is there anything on this line in the reliable works on immigrants of
royal descent?
Also, I am considering purchase of the new edition of the Almanach de
Gotha, which has been mentioned here before as an excellent source.
Has anyone gotten hold of a copy of the new edition yet? How does it
measure up? (After reading posts on Stuart's "Royalty for Commoners",
which I unfortunately obtained before I went onto the Internet and
found this group, I have almost decided to burn the blasted thing!)
Thanks for any help/opinions.
Cathy
