I am trying to figure out the identity of Lady Ann(e) Jeffries, b. Manor of
Ley, Beerfereis Parish, Devonshire, England, wife of Richard Jones, merchant
of Devonshire (living in 1600s, poss. late 1500s), whose descendants came to
Virginia.

In the past, I didn't come up with anything searching for a Lady Ann(e)
Jeffries, but today I did a search for "Lord Jeffries" and came across some
interesting information. I found a George Jeffries (more commonly spelled
Jeffreys on the Internet) who was 1st Baron Jeffreys of Wem (the infamous
"Judge Jeffreys" of the Bloody Assizes), whose 2nd wife was an Anne, dau. of
Sir Thomas Bloodworth, Knt. Burke's Extinct Peerage (p.298) says that Anne
was widow of a "Sir John Jones, of Fonmon, in Glamorganshire", but Burke's
Extinct Baronetage (p.282) says that Sir John Jones was "of Furman, in
Gloucestershire".

Is there any chance this might be the mysterious Lady Ann(e) Jeffries I'm
looking for? If Burke's has her husb. right, then maybe Richard is her son
instead of her husb.? or maybe his name was John instead of Richard? Does
anyone have any information to support to disprove this theory?
