Hmmmmmm.

It appears as if the little old schlockmeister, my goose, has been
drinking [or smoking] and posting again.

He is obviously quite unfamiliar with the Oxford English Dictionary
[OED] and many other useful sources for the words ---- Pg, Pogue, Poke,
Poca, Poka, Pung, Pungr, Puggs, Poge, Pogh, Poghe and Pough.

This is quite puzzling, as he is a college professor. Academic
standards have indeed fallen ---- even more so than the NASDAQ.

My goose tends to wander off into the frankly and rankly obscene at
times like these. He just can't seem to help himself.

A very sad case of progressive deterioration ---- both mental and
physical. The prognosis, unfortunately, does not appear to be
encouraging in the least.

Please Ignore Him.

|
| I would like to remind readers of these newsgroups that "pogue"
| is a US Naval slang term for homosexual. It's [sic] usage as such
| goes back at least to the First World War.
|
| It has also been defined in a recent book as a "punk, a man who
| enjoyed receptive anal sex."
|
| Mr. Hines is very aware of this, both from his former life as
| a naval officer and more recently from discussion in soc.history.
| medieval. His above use of the term should be read in this light.
