FWIW Ormerod ii:132 shows the Peter Gerard who married Margaret
Stanley as son of Thomas Gerard's marriage to Douce Assheton. This
pedigree also shows Alice Gerard, daughter of Peter and Margaret as
wife of Thomas Radcliffe of Wymersley, Lancs. Joseph Foster's
_Pedigrees of the County Families: Lancashire (1873)_ also shows these
same relationships. Peter Edmund Stanley's _The House of Stanley_
(1998) also makes Peter son of Douce Asshteon. Perhaps VCH Lancs
clears up the discrepancies as to which of Thomas Gerard's wives was
mother of Peter and his brother John.
