Well, I got my hip-boots on, so I'm just gonna wade right in here.

As some of you know, the bible speaks of "dogs." "Do not give to dogs what
is holy;
and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot
and
turn to attack you." Matt.7:6. "Dog(s)" is mentioned at least 10 times in
the bible.
The connotation of the word "dog" in the bible is a disgusting animal.
Totally
opposite of today's "mommie's little poochie woochie."
