I would like to express exactly the same. For those
"Giles-no-remember-any-
posting-and-no-registered-any-genealogical-posting-on-SGM-searching-
files-since-1995, I can easily demonstrate the HUGE amount of
information that I have received immediately after posting a question,
from Leo, off-List, due to the voluminous files he has sent to me,
helping me, just for the sake of being helpful ALWAYS. Thanks to him
I have been able to deal with matters that I would never have been
able to do by myself. And when analyzing some of them, I have told
him about some line that I might have and that was not reflected, Leo
never ever took it as an offense, quite the contrary, he would
anxiously welcome any addition/correction (as he ALWAYS does). And if
this serves for anything at all, he was nearly the only one in this
list that helped a dearest friend of mine, who desperatly posted in
this list asking data for her thesis about Da. Juana de Aragón, the
daughter of the Catholic Kings, Maruxa Oñate Español, she remembers
him very well because his kindness and thoughtfulness trying to help
her as much as he could. Maruxa (one of the most brilliant Spanish
psychologists who being quadriplegic is confined to a wheel-chair and
yet has a willingness to work that seems supranatural) and I are
working now together on her thesis.
And a couple of months ago, when writing to Leo on another subject, he
still remembered her, so I doubt Leo's prodigious memory would
"forget" so easily a name, taking into account that he had helped
Maruxa more than two years ago, again off-list with voluminous files
all perfectly documented, and he perfectly remembers her and is still
concerned about the progress of her job. And, FWIW, Leo and I do not
know each other personally, just from this list. Finding this type of
persons is a blessing. I think Leo has so many positive attitudes
whether the poster is a newbie or a long lasting member of the group,
that I am feeling like the mean, rude, unmanly chain of attacks that
he is receiving nowadays, constitutes an attack to ourselves too.
So, if the poster that insists on attacking him or any other of the
MOST VALUABLE members of the group, the REAL TEACHERS, those whose
knowledge is above average (Todd, Don, and the many others that prefer
to stay in the background because of this ridiculous pondering on
idiotic arguments), continues in his/her attitude, he or she is
actually attacking or insulting ALL OF US who care about genealogy,
accuracy, methods, etc., and not about unlikely, unproven/disproven
facts.
Just why don't y'all take a leave of abscence and post in
"soc.gen.fantasy&maybe" or "soc.gen.med.what-if." or
"soc.gen.med.sci-fi" and if these groups have not been created yet,
just gathered y'all, and try to manage it (I bet you wouldn't know
where to start by), and let us work in peace?

Regards.

Joe in Atlanta.
