Subject: FitzRandolf Properties Divided Between Daughters
Date: Tue, 1 Jan 2002 08:41:28 -0500
Folks,
Ralph FitzRandolf of Middleham had three daughters, Mary, Joan, and
Anastase, all coheirs. The eldest, Mary, married Robert de Neville in about
1260. Joan was the wife of Robert de Tateshale. Anastase married John
Hansard (CP IX:496 footnote i).
Robert de Neville had seisin of his wife's pourparty under writ of 28 June
1270 (Close roll, 54 Hen. III, rot. 7d, 6d; Cal. Inqs.p.m., vol i, no 734).
This included Middleham, and ultimately all the possessions of Ralph
FitzRandolf in Yorkshire (CP IX:496 footnote i).
Though the Nevilles are interesting in their own right, it is well known
material. However, its the Anastase/John Hansard portion in which I'm
extremely interested. Does anyone have access to the IPM's, wills of Ralph
FitzRandolf? I'd certainly like to get a detailed list of the property that
ended up in the Hansard family. And any of the tidbits of information it
might reveal about the Hansards.
Cheers,
Kevan
