You will find extensive analyses of copyright law, the Berne Convention,
WIPO, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other issues bearing on this
discussion in the archives. You are mistaken to think that the main
participants in this debate, which has been going on for over a year, have
not "taken the trouble to look with any depth into copyright law".
