Good Morning,
1253, Eudo (2) la Zouche was granted benefit of marriage to Agatha de
Ferrers, however as Chris pointed out, she married Hugh de Mortimer.
1255, when William de Kalna died, it appears that John Montealto was alive
and married to William's daughter Millicent.
1263, Eudo (2) held 1263 held Mannors: Chester, Beeston, Shotwick, Eyton,
Houghton (Bed.), Haryngsworth, Berewevy Bulewyk (Nrthts.), Bruggewater,
Heygrabe, Edereworth (Somt.). Since Eyton and Haryngsworth were Cantelupe
properties [ "Confirmation by William de Cantilupe to the chapel in his
court of Eyton, of the grant made to it by his father, William de Cantilupe,
of a messuage and 12 acres of land in Eyton...[and] George de Cantilupo,
held....Haringworth in Northants," it would seem reasonable that Eudo and
Millicent married sometime between ca. 1256 and 1273 (probably late 1250's)
when she is named in the 1273 IPM of brother George.]
1264 and 1289 there is a release by Richard le Swein of Swithelund, to
Margaret de Ferr[ariis], countess of Derby, Ellen la Zuche, Alexander Comyn,
earl of Bouchan, and Elizabeth his wife, the heirs of Roger de Quency, late
earl of Winchester......
Confirmation by Roger la Zuche, son and heir of Sir Alan la Zuche, to the
leprous women and the prior and brethren of Maydenebradelegh... to celebrate
divine sevice for the souls of Sir Alan and the lady Elena his wife &c.
Witnesses to the confirmation :- Sirs Ivo la Zuche, Alan la Zuche.
[ Alan, s. of Alan and Elena who in 1279 held Fulborn of his sd.
bro, Roger.]
1299 when Milicent dies she is holding land of including a park held of John
Comyn, earl of Boghan, one of the heirs of Roger de Quyncy.....
Eon/ Eudo/ Ivo (1)
b. ca. bef. 1238, presumably ca. 1200-1210
as son of Roger b. ca. 1175- 80 and Margaret Bisset (Magna Charta Sureties,
5th Ed. by Weis)
OR
Eon/ Eudo/ Ivo (2)
b. ca. 1230-40 son of Alan and Elena de Quincy la Zouche
married between 1256 and 1273, Millicent Cauntelo Montaleo b. before 1245,
d. 1299
Eudo according to CP died between 28 April and 25 June 1279.
Children:
1. Elizabeth b. ca, 1274-5 m. Nicholas Poyntz s/o Hugh
[Collins: Nicholas Poyntz sum to Parlia 3-4EDII [1310] m. Elizabeth d/o Eudo
La Zouche. The IPM of Nicholas Poynz 7 Oct 1 Edw. I [1273} names Sir Hugh
Poynz [b. 1250] his son and heir age 23...held the manor of Sutton in Dorset
of Sir Gilbert de Clare earl of Gloucester. ]
2. Eleanor m. John Harcourt [Collins:[1341] Sir John Harcourt m. Eleanor
d/hr of Eudo lA Zouche. Their son, William Harcourt (living in 4 Ed
III-1344) m. Jane d/o Richard Lord Grey of Codnore
Evidently several sources, including Ancestral Roots, carries this daughter
(1&2) as an Eleanor who married both Poyntz and Harcourt, not two daughters.
However, sources also carry Eudo's birth as ca. 1244.
3. Lucy b. ca. 1276 m. Thomas Greene (Magna Charta Sureties,
5th Ed. by Weis)
4. William b. 1277 m. Maude/Matilda Lovell
5. "Eva marrying Sir Maurice Berkeley, lord Berkeley, who died 31 May 1326
in Wallingford Castle, as a prisoner. See Ancestral Roots, line 39-30.
Eva died 5 Dec 1314. See AR as cited above, and also Magna Carta Sureties,
page 98."
If we add Eva to the list of children of Eudo and Millicent, and her
birthdate is 1279/80, then she had to have been the last child born to them,
and probably after Eudo's death.
Sir Phillip de la Beche of Berks. who married a Lady Joan la Zouche in found
in 1325 with Hugh d'Audele, Maurice de Berkelee, Robert Holland and John de
Bourne in regard to tenement in Middlesex, 'Blaunchapelton.'
Did Eudo and Millicent also have a Joan who married a Beche? One source says
that eudo's daughter married a Roger Corbett but I can find no confirmation
of this.
And how came Lubesthorpe to this Roger? In 1304 Roger la Zouch deceased held
the manor of Lubbesthorpe of William la Zouch by the service of the third
part of a knight¹s fee; Roger la Zouch, son and heir of the foresaid Roger
was then aged 11 (b. 1276). IPM 7 Edw I [1287] when in 1253 William de
Cantilupe was granted manor of Lobesthorp and Barby in Northants.
