I believe Douglas Richardson will be including the ancestry of Ann
Sutton, wife of Richard Eltonhead, ancestress of several Virginia
colonial lines, in his upcoming book. The following line connects Ann
Sutton's Stanley line to the Arderne lines contained in Weis' 7th ed.
of "Ancestral Roots" (See lines 150 & 230). Any comments or
corrections are welcome.

Descendants of Sir Peter de ARDERNE Knight

First Generation
1. Sir Peter de ARDERNE Knight1,2 was born abt 1241, of Aldford,
Cheshire, England. He died 1292.
Peter married Margery3,4 abt 1265.
They had the following children:
+ 2 M i. Sir John ARDERNE Knight was born 1266 and died 1308.

Second Generation
2. Sir John de ARDERNE Knight5 was born 1266, of Alvanley, Cheshire,
England. He died 1308.
John married Margery verch GRIFFITH6, daughter of Griffith ap MADOC
Lord of Bromfield and Emma de AUDLEY. Margery was born abt 1260, of
Dinas Powis, Glamorgan, Wales.
They had the following children:
+ 3 M i. Sir John de ARDERNE Knight was born abt 1286 and died 1349.

Third Generation
3. Sir John de ARDERNE Knight7,8 was born 1286 in Alvanley, Cheshire,
England. He died 1349 in Alvanley, Cheshire, England.
John married Alice de VENABLES,9,10 daughter of Sir Hugh de VENABLES
Baron of Kinderton and Agatha de VERNON, 1307/1308. Alice was born abt
1296 in Kinderton, Cheshire, England.
They had the following children:
+ 4 M i. Sir Peter de ARDERNE was born 1327 and died 1379.

Fourth Generation
4. Sir Peter de ARDERNE11,12,13,14 was born 1327, of Alvanley,
Cheshire, England. He died 1379.
Peter married Cecily de BREDBURY,15,16,17 daughter of Adam de BREDBURY
and Cecily.
They had the following children:
5 M i. Hugh de ARDERNE18,19 was born abt 1352, of Alvanley,
Cheshire, England. He died 1420/1423.
Hugh married (1) Agnes de HULME20 and (2) Cicely de HYDE21.
+ 6 F ii. Blanche de ARDERNE was born abt 1372.

Fifth Generation
6. Blanche de ARDERNE22,23 was born abt 1372, of Aldford, Cheshire,
England.
Blanche married Sir William STANLEY Knight,24,25 son of William
STANLEY and Margery de HOOTON, abt 1400. William was born abt 1375, of
Hooton, Cheshire, England. He died 1428.
They had the following children:
7 M i. William STANLEY Esquire26 was born abt 1401, of Hooton,
Cheshire, England. He died bef Mar 1465.
William married (1) Mary SAVAGE,27 daughter of Sir John SAVAGE Knight
and Maud de SWYNNERTON, on 15 Dec 1424. Mary was born abt 1404, of
Clifton, Cheshire, England. She died 1434/1435. William married (2)
Alicia HOUGHTON,28 daughter of Sir Richard HOUGHTON Knight and
Margaret, abt 1439.
8 F ii. Catherine STANLEY29 was born abt 1403.
Catherine married Ralph ARDERNE Esquire,30 of Harden, Cheshire,
England.
9 F iii. Elizabeth STANLEY31 was born abt 1406. Elizabeth married
Thomas POOLE Esquire,32 of Poole, West Riding, Yorkshire, England.
10 F iv. Margery STANLEY33 was born abt 1408. Margery married Thomas
VENABLES, 34 of Kinderton, Cheshire, England.
11 F v. Isabel STANLEY35 was born abt 1410. Isabel married Robert
LEGH Esquire,36 of Adlington, Cheshire, England. He died 1479.
