Subject: John Browne (-1546) of West Hoathly

At long last, I have obtained a copy of the Will of John Browne (dated 30
April 1546) of West Hoathly, Sussex which I have mentioned in previous
messages, and for which there was some interest.

Unfortunately the will in the Archdeaconary records of Lewes is in a very
poor state, and has suffered from water damage. The following is as much as
I can make out so far (which had taken many hours):

Notes:
Some of the "Jane"s may be "Jone"s
The "N" of the two "Nicholas" is backwards, it looks more like the shape made
by "VI"
The T of "Thomas" looks more like a modern handwritten "w"
It is tempting to assume "hands of Fletching" should be "lands of Fletching",
but the first letter looks like an "h".
"eyr" is heir; "soke" is presumably sick and what looks like "fayls" is
presumably fails, ie dies.
The text in brackets are assumed or partly assumed, the text being illegible.
The "___" represent words I can not read and their approximate length.
