You likely call the pommel of a saddle the saddle horn. Billy Bastard was
thrown against the saddle horn as his horse reared up (bucked is what we call
it in Texas). It ruptured him, so the story goes, and evidently did other
damage to him inside his body. He died alone, everyone fled from his tent.
Sad. How the mighty can fall.
