Some corrections to this list:
1406 Francesco III de Carrara, Prince of Padua = strangled in jail by the
Venetians upon order of the venetian government

1456 George Brankovic, Despot of Serbia = this one died a natural death, he
was almost 90 yrs old

Subject: Murder most foul

Leo's list reminds me of the two men who were flying over the Atlantic in a
balloon. They were complety fogged in for hours; visibility zero; no idea
where they were.. Finally the fog cleared a bit and they saw they were above
land and quite low down. A man was walking just below them. "Hey, you down
there -- where are we?" "You're in a balloon." "That man is a lawyer." "How
do you know?" I'"I'll prove it to you -- hey, are you a lawyer?" "Yes." "How
on earth did you know?" "Simple -- everything he says is absolutely true,
and absolutely useless."

So far as I know Leo is not a lawyer, but his list is absolutely useless. It
is also incomplete and, for that reason, highly addictive. I have wasted my
whole evening compiling some additions. They are equally useless and
incomplete, but here they are.

altercation with an Egyptian emir during a chess game

1483 William Hastings, 1st Lord Hastings -- executed
1510 Sir Richard Empson = executed
1510 Sir Edmund Dudley = executed
1543 Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury = executed
1547 Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey = executed
1552 Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset = executed
1553 John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland = executed
1553 Donough O'Brien, 2d Earl of Thomond = murdered
1572 Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk = executed
1585 Henry Percy, 8th Earl of Nothumberland = murdered

1685 Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll = executed
1841 Claudine Rhedey de Kis-Rhede, Countess of Hohenstein = died of a fall
from a horse.

And a correction to Leo's list: "1470 Sir Philip Dymore" should read "1470
Sir Thomas Dymoke."
