<I don't suppose the tinctures are given? St George's Roll (c1285) gives
Dakney arms as Azure a cross between four lions rampant or., but perhaps
there were other shield(s) used by the de Akeny>

There is a full discssion of the Daken heraldry with illustrations in P. W.
Daykin's article on that family's origins in _Family History_ v. 18, no. 146
(1996). I would have thought, as this is referenced in CP XIV, that Doug would
also have made mention of this in his discussion of that family's heraldry.

By frequently ommitting certain citations, and by including other citations
(which appear and are discussed in articles, but not pointing that out), it
makes it appear to readers that these sources are newly discovered by the
author, and in essence steals the credit from where it is properly due. One
should be careful with that, as intelligent people quickly see through this.

One criticism I've had with the older editions of PA is that a whole host of
citations are made to visitations, etc., but the key article which put it all
together in the FIRST place is generally cited something like "TG 11:342-65"
ommitting the author, the import of the article and its text, etc.
