In the latest issue (Oct. 2002) of the NYGBR, there is a very favorable
review of a book called Some Ancient and Medieval Descents of Edward I of
England. The review is by Henry Hoff, who is the editor of the NEHGR. He
writes, "If you have ever wondered how far back you can go (or European
ancestry in general can go), the most readable, accessible, and reliable
answers are to be found in Don Stone's Some Ancient and Medieval Descents of
Edward I."
There is a website for further information:

At $40 (plus $5 shipping), it is rather pricey for a loose-leaf binder with
about 100 pages, but I thought people at SGM might be interested in knowing
of it. If anyone has seen it, I would be very interested hearing an opinion.
(If this has been already discussed recently, I apologize. My computer had a
severe nervous breakdown two weeks ago--something to do with the registry,
whatever that might be--and I have only been able to get to newsgroups,
e-mail, and the Internet fitfully. The beast is now fixed so I have rejoined
the living.)
