Subject: Re: Reasons why... / Gateways in South America
I have already posted several gateway ancestors in
Brazil. They are known members of old Portuguese
families like Meneses, Vasconcellos, Albuquerque,
Silva, Sousa - several members of each one of those.
Also the following Italian families have known lines
in Portugal and Brazil:
Acciaioli, Adorno [Campanaro Adorno, txs to Andrea
Dominici-Battelli], Cavalcanti, Centurione (Scotto and
Oltramarini), Doria, Grimaldi [I owe Cesare Patrignani
the identification of the Grimaldi branch that left
descendants in Portugal and Brazil], Lomellini,
Salviati, Spinola, Usodimari.
There is also an old (but unrelated to the Florentine
family) Medici family, attested from the 16th century
on.

Thanks for ALL of your kindly and generously shared information. When I said that you didn't include details, I meant full lineages. And I should say that you may have, but I just failed to see them, or was not subscribed at the time, due to never-ending ISP problems. (Lest there be confusion, my problems are not w/EarthLink, it was with my former ISP, who still causes trouble.)
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright.
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light.
And, somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout.
But there is no joy in Mudville -- Mighty Casey has struck out.
