As a number of list participants have already realized, my posting earlier
this morning regarding the posting to the list of a review of one member's
book was a personal message that went to the list in error. For that error,
and that error alone, I apologize to all members.

I must however stand by the general gist of that message. Using the list to
broadcast praise (however deserved) of one's book is not, as I understand
it, the purpose for which the list was established. The quality of postings
to this list indicates that most members are capable of judging for
themselves the worth of a publication by any individual member. We don't
need to be prodded by reviewers' opinions.

If one member wishes to be kept informed of reviewers' reactions, I suggest
that authors forward reviews privately and keep them off list.
