Michael Andrews-Reading's post of September 15 mentioned ipms
of 1426 for persons named Peter and Elizabeth Melborne. CIPM
22 pages 727-29.

_A Genealogical Account of the Family of Bisshop or Bishop_
(1877) attempted to reconcile the information in these ipms with
what we know about the Eylesford-Milborne descent, and came
up with the following chart (page 34):

1. Peter de Milborne, esq., m. Elizabeth de Eylesford.
2a. Peter de Milborne, d.s.p. surviving, 1420; m. Elizabeth
Hondsacre, who d. s.p. surviving 1410.
3a. John Milborne, d.s.p. before his parents.
2b. Sir John Milborne, living 1421, when he was kinsman and
heir of Sir John de Eylesford; d. before 1427; m. Eliza-
beth _____.
3a. John Milborne, esq., kinsman and heir of his uncle
Peter Milborne in 1426, then aged 26 and more; d.
1436; m. Elizabeth Devereux.
4a. Simon Milborne, esq., m. Joan Baskerville.

This involves shoehorning another generation into the Eylesford-
Milborne descent as usually presented. Mr. Andrews-Reading
suggested I post this in case others have comments. He thinks
the extra generation presents chronological problems, and I
suspect he is right.
