It's funny that this discussion is happening just now, because I've just read
a report of a marriage in the 2nd and 4th degree. This is related to my
Agnes of Dunbar thread, because there was a time when the Earldom of Moray
(Murray) was not allowed to a heir because his parents had not obtained a
dispensation for being married in the 2nd degree.

It's an interesting circumstance, because if the report and the included
lineage are accurate it creates a chronological problem for several earlier
generations.
