Dear Newsgroup ~
Complete Peerage, 6 (1926): 181-182 (sub Grey) has a brief account of
Sir Edmund Grey, Knt., 9th Lord Grey of Wilton, who died testate in
1511. His surviving wife (and mother of his children) was Florence
Hastings, daughter and co-heiress of Ralph Hastings, Knt., of
Harrowden, Northamptonshire, and Kirby, Leicestershire, by Amy,
daughter and co-heiress of John Tattershall, of Woolwich, Kent, and
Complete Peerage gives no particulars regarding the remaining life of
Lord Grey's widow, Florence, but the two records cited below indicate
that she married (2nd) Richard Brett, Gentleman, of Bletchley,
Buckinghamshire. My file notes indicate that Florence died in 1536.
The second item below indicates that Florence Hastings' 2nd husband,
Richard Brett, died testate. I checked the online PCC will index and
the will of Richard Brett did not turn up, so I assume his will was
probated in one of the lower courts.
Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
