The fact that many unthinking Brits and Americans say "Great-Aunt" for
someone who is actually a GRANDAUNT doesn't make it either smart, clear,
consistent or coherent.

Here's a Smarter System...

For Real Genealogists.

1. Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Uncle, Aunt

2. Grandfather, Grandmother, Granduncle, Grandaunt

3. Great-Grandfather, Great-Grandmother, Great-Granduncle,
Great-Grandaunt

4. Great-Great-Grandfather, Great-Great-Grandmother,
Great-Great-Granduncle, Great-Great Grandaunt... [2nd Great-Grandfather,
etc.]

And so forth...

See how straightforward, clear, consistent and coherent that is?
