Will, you are VERY silly, you drag in the Bible, which is not wanted here on
We are talking genealogy not translated books. A lot in the Bible was lost
in translation, meanings changed because circumstances were not understood,
or there were no equivalant circumstances at the time of translation. Why do
you think there are several versions of the Bible?
You were just being smart, wanting to show up Joost and show how clever you
are. That is not helpful in these discussions. I think Joost knows a great
deal about Dutch genealogy and all he did was say that he had not
encountered the name in Dutch (meaning in genealogy, even I understood
To play funny does not become you. Especially as you should cherish any
continental appearing on Gen-Med, too many have been lost in the last few
With best wishes

But I do have a GREAT doubt about that claim.
Are you claiming that in the Dutch Bible it says "Hoosker doosker
blabber bloop Babylon antsy gantsy smoozzz" ?
Even though there is no "Babylon" in the language at all? Doesn't it
occur that they alter the names into the language that is being
recorded? What if in Dutch there were no "W" letter, how would words
with a "W" letter/sound be written if they didn't change them into
some other Dutch word?
