James Stillman Rockefeller Jr. not to be confused with his father.
Jr was born 1926, his father in 1902.
Jr's mother was Nancy Carnegie of that famous family.

In the process I was told how explorer Thor Heyerdahl's first wife had after
their divorce married James Stillman Rockefeller. I knew nothing about him,
until a kind and knowledgeable person pointed me into the right direction and
now he is in my own computer program with some 2,000 ancestors, amongst them
many medieval ancestors.

Subject: OT Thor Heyerdahl and the fall-out for me
My search for medieval ancestors for the explorer Thor Heyerdahl at first looked
possible. But then Todd Farmerie pointed me into the direction of a website
which took his paternal line back a fair way but not anywhere near those
Heyerdahls with medieval ancestry.
But then I was shown a Norwegian census which showed that the line Todd had
found was wrong. However, it wasn't very wrong. One male in the that line shown
turned out to be a brother of the real ancestor, and so that line still stands,
it stands without medieval, let alone royal, ancestors.
Then someone in Norway supplied me with enough information to link those
Heyerdahls with royal and medieval ancestors to those without. There were two
Heyerdahl brothers, one is the ancestor of the explorer, the other married
someone with royal and medieval ancestors. So close, yet so far away.
But then came the interesting addition. I was told that by the way that Jens
Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Norway from 2000-2001 and 2005 to the present,
was a descendant of the Heyerdahls. But he is a descendant of the brother with
the royal and medieval ancestors. This also makes him a 28th cousin of Barack
Obama as well as a 14th cousin twice removed of Harald V, king of Norway. In
other words, Jens Stoltenberg is a Plantagenet cousin. His first royal ancestor
is Philippe III, king of France, next are Henry II of England and Stephen de
Blois, king of England, and so on to William the Conqueror and Charlemagne.
I would like to thank all those people who have helped me with this research. A
pity about the explorer.
With best wishes
Leo van de Pas.
