================= SNIP ====================
Dear Will,
Tannat is the name of a large stream (at least formerly....?) in
Shropshire, which gave its name to a location (Abertanat, 'mouth of
the Tannat') and a family, spelled variously Tannat, Tannatt, etc.
Somewhat more recently Edmund Tannatt migrated to Georgia, married a
kinswoman of mine (Elizabeth Crooke) and d. before 26 Jan 1763 when
his will was proved in Georgia. Many descendants (surnames Houstoun,
Thomson &c.) including the well-known Sir Tannatt William Edgeworth
David.
Of greater interest for your purposes is the pedigree of Tanatt
of Abertanat and Blodwell (Vis. of Shropshire, 1623 - URL given below)
which shows 'Jana Tanatt' as the wife of 'Joh[ann]is Mathewes de
Blodwell a[nn]o 1623', and daughter and coheir of Maurice Tanatt by
his wife Margaret ferch Thomas Owen. The generations are extended
back several generations, including an additiaonl Kynaston marriage.
If the marriages/spouses shown can be confirmed, there are several
ancestral references which likely can be traced back via the Welsh
pedigrees in Bartrum.

Hope this is of interest.
Cheers,
John
