I am interested in obtaining a death cert. for Kenneth Ludlow FORCE dob 1887
in Madison, New Jersey dod 1946 Lakewood, New Jersey. A birth cert. would
be better but don't know if one exists since he was probaly born at home.
His daughter 85 years old stands to lose her pension unless she can come up
with proof that her father, Kenneth, was a U.S. citizen. The gov't claims
she is not a citizen because she was born in England. Since her father was a
citizen she believes she is one too. She came to the U.S. in 1915 with her
father and mother has lived here all her life, got married to an American
citizen had three boys two of which served in the military, one in Korea and
one in Viet Nam. Her name is Betty Harvey if any one has any suggestions we
would appreciate them.
Thank you,

I get email from people on gen-newbie and I would like to reply through
gen-newbie, but when I click on "reply to sender", the personal address
comes up in the "To..." box. Then, I have to go back and wipe that and
retype the gen-newbie address.
Also, is there a way to get an address into the "To..." box without having
to type the whole thing in every time?
How does my email look, not one long line?
Thanks to all for the CATLETT info. I have looked up the name on white

Hi all, I apologize in advance if this question has been recently
discussed.
Is there a way to make an ancestor chart similar to the blank ones that
are used by geneologists to hand write info into? The ones I am
thinking of have spaces for 31 names. One I have is labeled "Ancestor
Chart" it has lines for b., p.b., m., d., p.d.. The charts can be
numbered and there is a space that says, "Person No. 1` on this chart is
the same person as No.____on chart No. ____. I am very disappointed
that my FTM software doesn't seem to be able to do this. I have been
using an old DOS program called "The Family Edge" and it made beautiful
printed charts. Is there some other chart that takes its place? Is this
something that researchers are not using anymore? There must be a
reason this was not included in the software. The block charts, to me,
are a total waste of time. Maybe its because I am not using them
correctly.
I have searched all the menus and can't seem to find what I am looking
for, any help or enlightenment would be appreciated.

You probably need to provide more information, such as browser software and
computer operating system you to get a more meaningful response to both of
your questions than I provide. I use Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE),
but have used Eudora and Netscape Navigator.
If you have a button that says "reply to all", use it instead of "reply to
sender" button. "Reply to all" messages will go to the sender and the
list. Clicking on either button should automatically place the address in
the "To" box. If you are using MSIE, the "reply to all" button may not be
one of the default buttons at the top of your browser. You will have to
customize the program to put it there or select it from the "Mail" pull
down menu at the top of your browser.
You can build an address book from email addresses you receive. All three
browsers mentioned have address books, but differ on how to place names in
them. Rather than describe the process for MSIE, E, or NN, why don't you
provide the information on your computer setup and perhaps more specific
comments by a user of the same software can be made.

You may find you have a Reply button and a Reply to All button (or something
similarly labeled). Beside AOL, the server I had previously had both options
available. Just check for this and then determine which button does which.

Dear Sally,
I just got to yours of the 15th tonight. If Warren, Pa is in Warren
County, we may have a little to talk about. I grew up in Oil City in
Venango County, and my wife in Bradford, McKean, Co. Stu Barber, who
played professional foot ball for Chargers after going to St.
Bonaventure, was from Bradford H.S. graduating about 1945. To go back
tho, many people from Vt. stopped off in Central N.Y. State for a couple
generations before going on to N.W. Pa. Both sides of my wife Muriel
Wright's family did the Vt, N.Y thing. The N.Y. section of rootsweb
should be a big help to you. I think Shaners lived in Oil City, Pa with
kids in High School in early 1940s The name is very familiar to me but
I cannot come up with a given name or face and since I went to H.S. in
Seneca, my year books won't help either.
Regards,
Galen Calvert

The AZ Open Records bill passed the House end of February...it will go

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Reply to my inquiry:
AZ has a closed records policy on vital records. Lets say you want a
copy of your uncle's AZ death certificate....you are out of luck. Your
uncle's wife or son/dau might be able to get one only if they: prepare
a pedigree chart *proving* they are directly related, a copy of their
drivers license which MUST have a picture, a cashiers check, and a
state approved form...and patience to wait a while. I was unsuccessful
in obtaining my GGF death certificate...and I had provided all the
documents...it was such a hassle, I finally gave up after a year. If
you've ever tried to get a record from Arizona, there would be no
question in your mind the significance of this bill. AZ is one of the
very few states where it is extremely difficult to obtain records.
You do not have to be an AZ resident to support the bill...all
genealogists are affected who have ancestors who came to AZ...

To answer your questions in order.
Yes, version 3.4 for win95
Yes, many raves.
It allows more than 4 but its not clearly stated how, but several people
were nice enough to enlighten me on how to do it.
I have problems not raving, because it is straight forward and easy to
use.
But that is a bais opinion because I haven't used any other software.

I do NOT want this kind of a topic here. There is no place for it...that is
what message boards, and debate boards are for.
This is a respected place to help search out our ancestors, not to talk
religion, politics or money.
My opinion...:-)

Researchers -
I am brand new to your group, and read the message from Bob VanDyne
asking for info on the branch of Denton's out of VA and Tenn.
Well I would like to make contact with whoever is researching the
Denton line in MO. I am searching for an elusive great great
grandfather, Andrew Denton. Family gossip tells that he was a
Catholic priest in Ireland and stowed away on a boat to America. He
may have come into the US illegally. Can't find where he entered the
country or even evidence yet of his being here. However, he did
settle in MO and that is where my great grandfather, his son Furm
Andrew Denton was born.
Anyone have any info on this line? Help... Tracy

Hi!
I too had MANY relatives move out to Bakersfield, Taft CA during the dust
bowl days.
Bakersfield is an OIL town and used to be quite booming. When did yours move
there? Mine did in the 1920's.
It is truly sad as many MORE of my relatives stayed and no one ever told me a
single thing about them! (I was in CA)...I didn't know until this year that
lots were alive and could have told me soooo much about my ancestors when I
was a teenager.
My SMITH line moved from Beaver and Garfield Co., OK and my AGEE line moved
from Licking, MO. So I have lots of relatives I never met in OK, MO and
elsewhere.
Hope this helps,
CArole

I am posting this reply to the list because there have been so many unsub
messages sent to the list recently. I hope everyone will save it and
refer to it when you need to unsub! This comes from my welcome letter
that I received when I subscribed to the list:
To unsubscribe, send a new message to:
and in the body of the message type the word
"unsubscribe" (don't use quotations).
Remember to put it in the body of the message and not the subject line.
Remember to send it to address listed above, not to the list address.
