Telnet is an Internet feature just like any other internet feature
(e-mail, archie, ftp, finger, irc...blah blah blah)
If your email program turns your computer into a mailbox, your
telnet program turns your computer into a telephone booth.
It lets you dial up certain places that have telnet addresses-
like your phone can call up anyone else as long as they have a
phone too. A typical telnet address can look like this 124.456.789.01
or it can have a word address like this someplace.org (the program/
internet converts the word address to the real numerical address).

If you've ever used your modem to dial up a local Bulletin Board system,
its almost like that, only you dont have to worry about long distance
charges for calling Timbucktoo, Mi.

only its internet! YAY!!!!! ;)
