Hi Jen,
I think I can handle this. The automatic upgrades is more of a timed thing than anything
else. In the Options Wizard for InoculateIT, the LAST item deals with this. You tell it
to alert you after X number of days since last checking for new virus signature files.
I've got mine set on 3 days.
This alert will kick in when you run InoculateIT OR when you first start your computer, IF
you have an autoscan set in options (scan XXX files upon first start of day, XXX-YYY on
subsequent restarts that day - I have mine set for 200 first start, 100 for subsequent
restarts).
Anyway, when the alert kicks in, you choose to ignore it or check for updates. If you
select check for updates, IT will open a little bitty winder, go to it's home site, check
for the newest signature file, compare it to what is on your machine, and if it is newer
it will download and ask where you want to put it (I always put it in my DOWNLOAD folder),
then upon completion of the download ask if you want to install it now (always answer yes,
doesn't do any good until installed). It will install, only takes a few seconds, and
notify you that the minor upgrade was completed. Then, poof, it goes away and waits.
NOTE: Once you have downloaded AND installed the update, the downloaded file in the
DOWNLOAD folder can be deleted, it's done it's job.
Hope this helps a bit.

Gus aka Sarge
