for Margaret Davis:

(1)
Kings County was created on 1 Nov 1683, and its boundaries haven't be moved
since then.
The Dept of Health , Brooklyn Borough Office, 295 Flatbush Avenue,
Extension, Brooklyn, NY 11201 has birth, death and burial records.
The City Clerk, Municipal Build, Brooklyn, NY 11201 has probate records.
The County Clerk, Superior Court Building, 360 Adams St., Brooklyn, NY 11201
has divorce records.
The Surrogate Court, Superior Court Bliding, 360 Adams Street, Brooklyn, NY
11201 has probate records.
The Clerk of Civil Court, 120 Schermerhorn St., Brooklyn, NY 11201, has
court records.
The County Registrar, Municipal Building, Joralemon and Court Streets,
Brooklyn, NY 11201 has land records.

(2)
What my knowledge is of a borough is that it is just another name for a
township, depending what area of the country you are from, but the borough
is perhaps a bit larger than the township)

(3)
I believe the borough functions as more of a governmental body (has records,
etc) than the township is merely a measurement...there can be more than one
township within a borough (but this I'm not sure of....or understand because
I was brought up in the West where all they had were counties and it is an
Eastern definition of how to section off governmental structure which is
older in concept and different.

1.Is Long Island a county itself or part of another county? or is it a
part of the Borough of Brooklyn?
Long Island is in Kings County (which includes Brooklyn also)
2. Speaking of Borough's (am I even spelling that right) what the heck
are they? What comprises a borough and do they act the same as counties?
I believe Boroughs (Brooklyn is the borough)are not the same as counties
(King would be the county).
3. Are the governmental functions of both the same?
I believe not.
Hope this helps--Lindsay
