With Win98, there is a utility called SFC. You can use this to extract
the Kernel32 from the .cab files. Just go to Start, Run and enter SFC,
then press Enter. Now go to the LOWER portion of the window that comes
up and mark the radio button in the lower left portion. This will allow
you to put in the name of the file that you want to extract. (Be sure
that you spell it correctly tho <G>). If you have the Win98 CD, then
when it asks were to get the file, point it in that direction. If you
only received a recovery disk, then point it to C:\Windows\Options\Cabs
which should be on all machines that only have the recovery cd and not
the full windows cd.

Fact is I don't know what the heck this means and I was into ancestry.com when this happened. It doesn't happen all of the time though. I have not downloaded anything on my computer except PAF 5 over a month ago.
