Joyce Ragel's posting is so true. The first paragraph of my tribute to my
father read:
The horror of war--deprivation, brutality, raw fear. To speak of it would
cheapen it somehow. Would call forth the nightmare. And who was left to
understand? When they departed for the Pacific Theatre, they left behind
their innocence.
