Roy,
How about Amos & Andy? I remember them & the others which you
mentioned. We really loved
sitting in front of our radio...had one which seemed tall to me..probably
was only 4 ft tall. At the top
were the dials & knobs. I remember reading a letter which my Aunt had
written to her sister about the
bells at Ames being on the radio...and "she MUST not MISS it!!"
Many times I think we should have kept the radio & forgotten about TV.
It takes so much more imagination to listen to the radio, than it does to be
glued in front of the TV. If I had my way, we wouldn't have a TV...but I
know I would lose on that one.
Being a small town we have a program which comes on several times a day
on the radio .."Trades & Sales"...people call up & either try to sell
something, trade something, or inquire about something. It's fun to listen
to. My husband was all excited when he came home the other day because some
woman was trying to give away some roosters. We have a neighbor down the
street who has laying hens & we buy fresh eggs from her. He finally got
hold of Andy...but she wasn't interested. Guess one rooster was enough for
her hens..she never said. (Just an excerpt out of my 'exciting day' up here
in the mountains of AZ.)
Warmest Regards,
~Jen in AZ~
