Do you have the option of using IE on the Wal*Mart ISP? Or
must you use a CompuServe browser (I understand the
Wal*Mart is provided by CompuServe). With CompuServe now
being owned by AOL and set up like AOL, I would think using
IE would be an option.

Two options for downloading mail into OE while you are
connected thru the Wal*Mart ISP come to mind since I use
them with AOL. One is MyRealBox, a free email service with
10 MB of storage, which can be used as web mail or can be
downloaded into OE, so that you can both send and receive
that way.

The other method I regularly use is that I have a NetZero
account, dating from the fall of 1998. I no longer have
the NetZero software on my computer BUT I can send and
receive using that account, in OE, while connected to the
internet with AOL.

Another method, costing $30 per year, is to set up a Yahoo
mail account to download into OE. I use the yahoo web mail
only and like it even more since they recently revised the
interface a bit. It works much like OE, except one must
be on line while reading/writing mail and the mails are not
downloaded onto ones HD. I use it for its
filtering-to-folder options, not possible with
AOL/CompuServe. It has a built in sp*m detector and also a
built-in AV system for AV scanning before downloading
attachments.

I have recently looked over some low-cost ISPs (under $10
per month, most of which allow downloading into OE or other
email client), but have not yet tried them and do not know
if they might have local access numbers where you are. The
list someone else sent of ISP possibilities will probably
include some of these for your review.

Is Earthlink a possibility for you -- they have quite a few
local access numbers?
