Wow we have more connections than I thought. I have Lymans in my line too.
(Richard Lyman, of High Ongar, Essex, England, came to America and died in
Hartford, CT. His great-granddaughter, Sarah Marsh, married into the
Merrill line. That family line eventually moved to Michigan and a couple
generations later married my German immigrant great-grandfather.)

I remember running across mentions of Amasa Mason Lyman in doing some
online lookups. I've seen lots written about him. Interesting family we
have isn't it?

And believe it or not, I actually know where Pisgah is and visited there
once. They used to have a tv commercial for Old Home Bread - the original
CW McCall and Mavis the Waitress at Old Home Fill'er Up and Keep on Truckin
Cafe. (The CW McCall who recorded the "Convoy" song back in the 70's or
80's was an offshoot of these commercials).

The commercials were filmed in a Pisgah cafe owned by relatives of my
Hinkel ex-husband.

Talk about slim claims to fame!

Well I guess I better tell you it isn't Mondamin which is further south,
it's between Morehead and Pisgah. It's been awhile and Mondamin came to
mind first. Can't recall the highway number right now but its the one
between Ute and Council Bluffs. If my memory serves me right it may be
highway 193. And yes I checked some of my info on the Mormons and they
did winter on both sides of the Mo. this is my cousin who was one of
the original Mormon.
Amasa Mason Lyman, third son of Roswell Lyman and Martha Mason, was
born March 30, 1813, at Lyman, Grafton Co., N.H. Orson Pratt visited
the neighborhood where he lived and Amasa became converted to the L.D.S.
doctrine and was baptized April 27th, 1832. He came to Utah July 24,
1847 with the Brigham Young Company.
