Cheryl,
Although I find Google a most valuable tool you are right in saying it
doesn't list everything. To get your site listed so "Googlers" can find you
go to:
http://www.google.com/addurl.html
There you will find information on submitting your site.

Subject: Some limitations of Google
| These are excellent leads to starting research online, but I have
| to disagree with the statement that 'If it is not on google it
| doesn't exist.' While Google does a fantastic job of indexing and
| ranking web sites, there is a vast amount of information that isn't
| available from a Google search. I have put my own name into
| Google, and my own personal website does not show up in the search
| results. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
|
| In particular, when searching for a name, much of the information
| that sits in databases isn't going to show up on Google. For
| example, my great-grandfather Jan Baran is in the Ellis Island
| database, but I don't see this when I search Google. My
| grandfather Stanley Baran is listed in the Milwaukee Achdiocese
| cemeteries website, but I won't find this when I search Google. My
| great-grandmother Anna Mumper is listed in the Wisconsin State
| Index of Deaths, 1959-1979, but I won't find this when I search
| Google. Google can keep track of the databases, but not the data
| contained within those databases.
|
| Google is an excellent search engine, and I do believe that good
| Internet researchers must know how to use a search engine like
| Google. But if you don't find something on Google, don't give up.
|
| Cheryl (My location should be quite obvious, do I really have to
| list it? :) )
|
| P. S. Some websites have been purposely removed from Google
| listings. Evidence:

|
| Here are a few less usual sites to help you...but if i could only
| teach you one thing it would be to never forget google
| (www.google.com). If it is not on google it doesn't exist. Put
| your name in and see what you find and also what anyone knowing
| your name can find. Put quotes around longer question to get
| exactly what you want. As you learn you can ask, "how do I research
| census, or vital records from Fla online"
