You didn't mention OS, but I'll bet it is WinMe. Can you boot in safe
mode?? Sounds like a corrupt registry/ or system file. If you can boot in
safe mode you can type in the run command scanreg /restore and hit enter.
Pick a date from the list of saved registries prior to your having problems.
Can't boot in safe mode than use your winMe boot disk( you did make a a boot
disk didn't you). Select start computer in dos mode. At the a prompt type sys
c: Should look like this ( >a:sys c:). if you di it correct it will say sytem
transfered than reboot. Still problem, reboot using start disk to dos command
and type Scanreg /restore .
The system restore feature is only availale in the windows inviorment
and is not available to you from Dos unless you are willing to edit the win
ini file and shell program.If you are familiar with editting the windows
files I can send you the procedure, however If you can boot to safe mode, the
easiest thing would be to run system restore from there.
