Subject: Vold family

I have just started research into my grandmother, Augusta Vold Hansen's
family. She was born in Norway in 1868 but came to the States in 1871 with
her parents and sister Minna (there may have also been a brother Allen? who
died when he was about 20) .Somewhere I heard she might have been from
Arendal.

I grew up in a Scandinavian section of Brooklyn, NY (Bay Ridge) and Vold was
not a common name. Is anyone familiar with it and can anyone give me
information about Arendal. All help would be appreciated.
