Imagine my puzzlement when my family history info indicated my Smith
family had gone to "Monticello, not far from Richfield Springs, Otsego
Co., NY". Since Monticello is 2 counties removed from Richfield, I was
really confused until I was told there used to be a village of
Monticello near Richfield Springs. Mystery solved!
