Sue,

Do you know where he lived when he enlisted? County Clerk's offices in NYS
at least some of them have the records of enlistees. Now, the problem. In
our county, the clerk wouldn't even let a veteran look at his own record! In
PA, they were on the shelf for anyone to peruse.
